2013-14 Preview: Evansville Aces
Can Evansville replace departed leading scorer Colt Ryan?
2012-13: 21-15 (10-8 in Missouri Valley)
In-conference offense: 1.02 points per possession (5th)
In-conference defense: 1.01 points per possession (3rd)
Evansville's scoring burden last season was largely placed on senior guard Colt Ryan, a versatile wing who pumped in 20.1 points and grabbed 3.6 rebounds a contest. The biggest question entering 2013-14 is whether that void can be filled. Aces coach Marty Simmons, however, isn't too worried. He believes the new-look roster opens up more possibilities than ever before.
"Balance and versatility are our strengths," he said. "We have the ability to put a lot of different lineups out there. I think we'll have some opportunity to go with some bigger lineups. Then again, we have some quickness and athleticism where we can put some smaller lineups on the floor."
