Preview: Texas State Bobcats
Bobcats expected to shine under new coach Kaspar, but not this season
2012-13: 12-22 (5-13 WAC)
In-conference offense: 0.98 points per possession (8th)
In-conference defense: 1.11 points allowed per possession (9th)
Texas State's hire of former Stephen F. Austin coach Danny Kaspar marks a great start for the program as it enters its first season in the Sun Belt. Kaspar's one of the best mid-major coaches in the business, and he's experienced success wherever he's been. His style will be drastically different from that of former Bobcats coach Doug Davalos. Kaspar's teams have notoriously slow tempos while recent Texas State teams have played at some of the fastest paces in the country. The new head coach has been clear that he intends to change the style in San Marcos, and indeed his SFA defenses consistently ranked as some of the best in the nation.
