Preview: NJIT Highlanders
Highlanders should have enough talent to give opponents trouble
2012-13: 19-14 (14-4 Great West)
In-conference offense: 1.08 points per possession (2nd)
In-conference defense: 1.01 points per possession (3rd)
Please excuse NJIT head coach Jim Engles if he's feeling a bit of a déjà vu right now. Perhaps no team was hit harder by the dissolution of the Great West, and now the Highlanders are independents again, the lone independent team in Division I basketball.
After the Great West splintered and the WAC picked up most of the pieces, the Highlanders were left on the East Coast without a conference. This season they'll barnstorm up and down the Eastern seaboard, only going as far west as Indianapolis to take on Butler.
