Preview: UAB Blazers

The Blazers boast one of the conference's most talented and veteran squads

UAB Blazers

2012-13: 16-17 (7-9)
In-conference offense: .996 points per possession (10th)
In-conference defense: 1.02 points per possession (5th)

Jerod Haase brought North Carolina pace to Birmingham in his first season helming UAB, as the Blazers went from one of the conference's slowest teams under Mike Davis to a top-25 ranking in adjusted tempo. Though UAB had its struggles at both ends of the floor, the Blazers were one of C-USA's best teams at forcing turnovers. And Haase's squad finished fairly strong, winning six of seven games late after starting conference play 0-5.
