Preview: Old Dominion Monarchs
Can the Monarchs leap forward after a dismal 2012-13?
2012-13: 5-25 (3-15 CAA)
In-conference offense: 0.98 points per possession (10th)
In-conference defense: 1.07 points per possession (9th)
Everything about the worst season in Old Dominion history was ugly, from the performance on the court to coach Blaine Taylor's word-slurring, seemingly out-to-lunch performance on a radio coaches show in late January. Taylor was fired on Feb. 5 with a 2-20 record, a sudden end to a 12-season stint that featured four NCAA tournament appearances. Jeff Jones takes over the Monarchs' program with recent success at American on his résumé, as well as an Elite Eight appearance as Virginia's coach in 1995. He'll start with a senior-less roster short on big men.
