Florida International Golden Panthers

2012-13: 18-14 (11-9 Sun Belt)
In-conference offense: 1.01 points per possession (4th in Sun Belt)
In-conference defense: 1.01 points per possession (6th in Sun Belt)

Although Florida International reacted well to Richard Pitino's departure by hiring a successful mid-major coach -- Norfolk State's Anthony Evans -- most of the offseason developments were discouraging. The Golden Panthers were slapped with a postseason ban for this season because of low Academic Progress Rate numbers from the Isiah Thomas era. Then one player after another found other places to go. Guard Malik Smith followed Pitino to Minnesota, and starting point guard Deric Hill and top 3-point shooter Juan Ferrales both transferred to a Division II school.
