2013-14 Preview: Winthrop Eagles
The Eagles will use the 2013-14 season as another rebuilding campaign
2012-13: 14-17 (6-10)
In-conference offense: 0.97 points per possession (11th)
In-conference defense: 1.03 points allowed per possession (7th)
Winthrop enters Year 2 of the Pat Kelsey era still squarely in rebuild mode. The good news is that last season was likely rock bottom for the once-proud program. The offensive struggles that plagued the Eagles under previous coach Randy Peele were still readily apparent, and the team's defense sank to a level of permissiveness not seen since 2003-04. Things should be better this season, though the gains will be only incremental with but a few roster changes.
