Preview: Southeastern Louisiana
Rebuilding Lions need contributions from newcomers to rise in Southland
2012-13: 13-18 (10-8)
In-conference offense: 0.99 points per possession (6th)
In-conference defense: 1.01 points allowed per possession (5th)
Southeastern Louisiana went 10-8 in the Southland last season despite being outscored in conference play, and the surprises didn't stop there. The Lions led the Southland in 3-point shooting, fueled by stellar performances by Dre Evans (42 percent) and Onochie Ochie (61 percent). But these impressive figures are belied by their free throw percentages, 61 and 60 percent, respectively. (Yes, Ochie shot better from 20-plus feet than 15 feet.) I wouldn't count on the same good fortune this season.
