McNeese State Cowboys

2012-13: 14-17 (7-11 Southland)
In-conference offense: 0.96 points per possession (8th)
In-conference defense: 1.04 points allowed per possession (7th)

Considering the team lost its best player midway through the conference season, the Cowboys did pretty well in 2012-13. Ledrick Eackles pulled off one of the better mic drops you'll see, pouring in 26 points in a triple-overtime loss to Central Arkansas. He then abruptly left the team for undisclosed personal reasons. Eackles' departure should have sunk the team, but MSU managed to go 5-6 over the remainder of the Southland regular season.
