Preview: UMKC Kangaroos
The Kangaroos will look to rebuild after a disappointing 2012-13 season
2012-13: 8-24 (5-11 Summit League)
In-conference offense: 0.96 points per possession (8th)
In-conference defense: 1.08 points per possession (5th)
Matt Brown's stint coaching UMKC came to an unceremonious end in 2013 when the Kangaroos finished 5-11 in their final season in the Summit League. Just two seasons after a respectable and auspicious .500 conference finish, UMKC ended up near the cellar of the league because of a turnover-prone offense and middling defense. First-year head coach Kareem Richardson lost the team's two most effective offensive players in the offseason, as wing Thomas Staton graduated and sharp-shooting point guard Estan Tyler transferred.
