Bracket Math: Villanova drops out

This edition of Bracket Math includes games through Thursday, Feb. 21. Rankings reflect an up-to-date S-Curve from yours truly, posing as one hypothetical member of the NCAA men's basketball committee.

Notes on the "new" math:

• The bubble has apparently landed right in the middle of my hometown. Three members of Philadelphia's vaunted Big 5 -- La Salle, Temple and Villanova -- occupy critical positions on the S-Curve. The Explorers, looking for their first NCAA invite in more than two decades, are among the Last Four Byes in the latest snapshot. The Owls played their way into the Last Four In group by knocking off La Salle last night and, in doing so, bumped Villanova to the First Four Out list. So much for the City of Brotherly Love!
