Final Four burning questions
Fran Fraschilla and Jay Bilas discuss predictions and other Final Four topics
With the college basketball season down to four teams, ESPN Insiders Fran Fraschilla and Jay Bilas answer five burning Final Four questions to get you ready for the final weekend of play.
Q: Does the rivalry element of UK-Louisville favor either the Wildcats or the Cardinals?
Fran Fraschilla: The rivalry aspect of this game favors the Louisville Cardinals because they are playing with house money. Few expected Rick Pitino's team to get to New Orleans. On the other hand, most expected that the Kentucky Wildcats would cut down the nets Monday night. Ultimately, the only time pressure will become a factor in this game is if the Cards keep it close until there are eight minutes to go in the game.
Jay Bilas: I think the rivalry element is a wash. The fact that this is a rivalry matchup will add heat to the fire, but the fire is already burning. If it can help the teams with a sharper focus in preparation, that can be a good thing. But if it takes away focus and energy and winds up wearing you out mentally and physically, then it can be detrimental. The only factor is how you handle the inevitable distractions and media catnip that come along with a game like this one.
