Davis' edge over Robinson
Using PER numbers to hand out national and conference POY awards
Ever want to compare every player in college basketball? John Hollinger has your answer. With his college player efficiency ratings, we can evaluate the productivity of Division I hoopsters from Arizona to Youngstown State to see who's really helping his team the most.
Early March is a time for conference tournaments, dramatic finishes and bubble predictions, but it's also a time for leagues to unveil their accolades for the season.
Since we started the 2012 player rankings several months ago, we have been tracking our own list of conference and national player of the year candidates, and you likely won't be too surprised that we believe the national POY race is down to two players -- Thomas Robinson of the Kansas Jayhawks and the Kentucky Wildcats' Anthony Davis. While both are extremely worthy, when you analyze their respective cases under the PER microscope, the Kentucky freshman emerges as the favorite.
