Miami, Cincy see sunny forecast
Hurricanes' big win, Bearcats' remaining schedule should help secure bids
Last week, we talked about two teams with questionable résumés that had opportunities to snatch a signature win or two and cement themselves into the bracket. It's therefore rather timely of the Miami Hurricanes to go into Cameron Indoor Stadium Sunday and leave with a victory against the Duke Blue Devils, the No. 4-ranked team in the RPI. One win and the Hurricanes have vaulted into the bubble discussion.
Before the win, Miami ranked No. 52 in the RPI. After, it ranks No. 37. The Hurricanes have three chances left for impressive wins to lay alongside that first one: At Florida State on Feb. 11, home against North Carolina on Feb. 15 and home against Florida State on Feb. 26. If they can steal one of those games and go 4-1 against the rest of their schedule, that would put them at 19-10 going into the ACC tournament with still more opportunities to impress the selection committee.
And the Hurricanes' chances may actually be even better than that.
