1. Gators show commitment to Carter
The first day of the July evaluation period for power forward Robert Carter (Thomasville, Ga./Thomasville) meant a small tournament with his Atlanta Express AAU team outside of Atlanta. Gathered in the crowd to watch Carter were assistants from Florida State and Georgia, as well as Jim Baron of Rhode Island. At 1 p.m. ET there was an unscheduled scrimmage and I was told FSU and Georgia dispatched assistants. Then, for the first official game of Carter's summer, in rolled Florida coach Billy Donovan and an assistant.
