Three vying for No. 1

This year, the top three high school players in the senior class performed on ESPN's family of networks. Fans got a chance to see for themselves and craft their own opinions on who should be No. 1. Let me tell you, settling on the top guy isn't always easy, especially this year.

Fans love to debate who is the best. In our world, putting rankings to the best high school basketball players is a requirement of the job, but its not always easy. When Greg Oden and Kevin Durant were seniors, they were 1-2 and at the time, that was an easy call. Of course, circumstances, injuries, etc., now dictate they are flip-flopped but at the time, there's no doubt in my mind it was Oden one, Durant two.

This year, I'm not so certain. I believe, and I think our entire recruiting staff would concur, that Austin Rivers (Winter Park, Fla./Winter Park), Anthony Davis (Chicago/Perspectives) and Michael Gilchrist (Somerset, N.J./St. Patrick) are the candidates for the top overall spot. The difficult part in selecting a No. 1 this year is that comparing the three candidates is impossible because their games and current time lines as players don't match.
