1. What we learned from TV games
Anthony Davis (Chicago/Perspectives) and Branden Dawson (Gary, Ind./Lew Wallace) are big-time players. Those who watched them on ESPN Thursday night, should keep in mind the level of competition they faced and how they were outmanned. Chicago's Whitney Young and Simeon aren't merely two of the best teams in Illinois, they are national programs this year and it was a show of force. Keep in mind that Davis stars for a team void of tradition and players and in Chicago, without a running mate, you're going to be in a for a long year. Most of the time in high school when your 6-foot-10 forward is your best option against the press, it's going to be a long night unless he gets help. His decision to stay at Perspectives this year was admirable. You have to applaud him for finishing his career where it began and keeping a level head throughout his breakout season of the past year. He was "limited" to 13 points and 13 rebounds; not too shabby.
