Baylor the real deal

• After having a chance to see Baylor up close, I believe this might be the year they finally have an interior presence. The Bears have long been respected for their guard play, but now Kevin Rogers is working the low- and mid-post game, and freshman dunkaholic Quincy Acy is a beast. Acy is a 6-foot-7 high-motor, low-post dunker who simply catches and finishes as well as triggers the break with his shot-blocking.

The coaches at BU put up quotes on the bulletin board -- not from opponents, but from Baylor players, who roundly agree that after their thumping in the tournament last season that defense is something they might need to research. Tweety Carter, who was suspended for the team's first three games, might have to fight tooth and nail for the minutes he received last season, as LaceDarius Dunn has added an off-the-dribble game to his deadly set shot.
