McAfee re-opens recruiting process

The recruiting process can make a prospect's head spin. Being courted by college coaches, who are often celebrities within their profession, and having to make a life decision that will greatly affect their futures is a lot to pile on an 18 year old. Sometimes it is better to step back and re-evaluate. Cedrick McAfee (Memphis, Tenn./Melrose), No. 59 in the ESPNU 100, is doing just that. After a whirlwind 24 hour period in which McAfee seemingly ended the recruiting process by committing to Isaiah Thomas and FIU following an in-home visit with the NBA Hall of Famer, McAfee decided to put on the breaks and open things back up. "I think the young man may have reacted a little too quickly and got caught up in the moment," said his AAU coach William Rhodes. "FIU is still a strong consideration and Cedrick looks forward to visiting the campus, but I think he needed to slow things down and take his time before making his final decision."
