Steve Lavin finding the perfect fits

St. John's coach Steve Lavin saw the second domino drop in his 2012 recruiting class this weekend when he landed a verbal commitment from 6-foot-5 swingman Darrick Wood (Washington, D.C./Nia Prep). Wood's commitment is just the latest example of Lavin's expertise on the recruiting trail as he has single-handedly revitalized St. John's image in the 17 months since he took the reigns of the Big East program. After scoring nine commitments -- including six ESPNU 100 prospects -- in his inaugural class, Lavin proved himself one of the elite recruiters in the country. This year's class has been equally impressive, but in a much different way.
