First-year coach Steve Lavin and his staff at St. John's have been making big waves on the recruiting front this fall, landing the likes of Maurice Harkless (Queens, N.Y./South Kent), Jakarr Sampson (Akron, Ohio/Brewster Academy), D'Angelo Harrison (Misouri City, Texas/John Foster Dulles), Dom Pointer (Roseville, Mich./Quality Education Academy) and Nurideen Lindsey (Philadelphia, Pa./Redlands C.C.) in the 2011 class and last week scooping up 2012 point guard Jevon Thomas (Queens, N.Y./Our Savior New American).

However, there may be more good news on the way as Norvel Pelle (Long Beach, Calif./Price) will reportedly make the cross-country trip for an official visit this weekend. Pelle, one of the top available big men left on the market, would give the Red Storm some much-needed size to complement the array of athletic scorers they have assembled on the wing.

This will be Pelle's first official visit of the year and he is thought to be considering five primary schools -- St. John's, Washington, UCLA, UTEP and Oregon.
