Last season, Syracuse small forward Wesley Johnson seemingly came out of nowhere to become a national player of the year candidate and lead the Orange to a No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament. Even though Johnson was the best player at Iowa State and was praised as a difference-maker by Jim Boeheim while sitting out his transfer season, Johnson sort of had the feel of a Roy Hobbs.
This season, there will be the equivalent of Kentucky's John Wall with so many talented freshmen who will be load-carriers for their teams. But will there be another Johnson, who garnered first-team All-America status and was the difference in good and great for his team? It may not be a transfer -- it may just be a player whose time has come. If there is another Johnson-type star out there this season, he very well might come from this group of seven super-elite prospects:
