Thank goodness college hoops decides its champion on the court and not in the polls

Nothing generates more discussion, frustration and anger than a Top 25 poll. Everybody with a pen has a power ranking or poll, but there is very little definition or agreement as to what a vote should be based upon.

Is the poll supposed to be reflective of the best team (which creates another discussion as to what is meant by "best team")? The team that is least-blemished to that point? A snapshot of which team played the best the prior week? Or a simple accounting of wins and losses, with special attention to the Transitive Property of Equality? Is it based upon simple results, or should a voter actually see and study the teams to make informed judgments?
