It was clear from warm-ups that Westchester shooting guard Jordin Mayes (Los Angeles/Westchester) had his smooth shot going. The Arizona bound scorer's feathery touch was evident throughout the night as he nailed one dagger after another into the heart of the Mater Dei Monarchs as the Comets took home the Southern California State Regional, 71-63. The Comets would eventually build a 46-26 lead well into the third quarter, but UCLA bound Tyler Lamb (Santa Ana, Calif./Mater Dei) would have no part of a potential blowout as he helped the Monarchs persevere to the end with his spectacular 32-point, 14-rebound effort.
