The case of St. Patrick High, recently barred from participating in the upcoming New Jersey state tournament, took another turn away from the court -- this time in federal court. The small Roman Catholic school with a big-time national reputation from Elizabeth, N.J., filed a civil lawsuit in federal court in Newark, seeking an injunction to overturn the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association's judgment two weeks ago, halting the school's basketball team from participating in the Non-Public B playoffs which tips off Tuesday. The hearing originally scheduled for Friday is now Monday morning after a ferocious snowstorm socked the region. If the appeal is denied, St. Patrick is done for the season.
