As I crisscrossed the country this fall and winter for ESPN Recruiting, one player I absolutely loved was Class of 2011 small forward Branden Dawson (Gary, Ind./Lew Wallace). Dawson is from the city that is known for producing the great Jackson Five, and on the hardwood Purdue legend Glenn Robinson. This young man could be the next great player out of talent-rich Gary, Indiana. I saw the 6-foot-6, 210-pound Dawson in December at the Motor City Roundball Classic in Detroit where he competed against an experienced, talented and well coached County Day team. Dawson was the most talented player on the floor. He has great size, skill, off-the-charts athletic ability, toughness and a big-time competitive fire. He is currently No. 10 on the ESPNU Super 60. Dawson's coach, Renaldo Thomas who has known Dawson since eighth grade, wants to put him in situations where he can show his talents against the best. "I want to take Branden to where he can show what he can do; I want to make sure he get's everything he deserves as a player.
