Detroit prospect opts for East Lansing

Brandan Kearney (Detroit/Southeastern) grew up in Big Ten territory.

No surprise the Detroit resident has ties to both the University of Michigan and Michigan State. His father's side of the family, which included a pair of football players, donned the Maize and Blue. Mom's family, chock full of Michigan State graduates, are Green as the state's forests.

"It came down to both schools," he told ESPN.com.
