One of the nation's best available wing players, 6-6 Mookie Jones (Peekskill, N.Y.), announced today that he will sign in November with coach Jim Boeheim's Syracuse Orange. He made his decision after returning from his official visit to Syracuse last weekend, obviously feeling it was the program that he most wanted.
Jones, who looks and plays like NBA star Shawn Marion as a high schooler, is an athletically gifted, high-flying swingman with the skills and versatility to play either second guard or wing forward. He had an outstanding junior season at Peekskill High School, averaging 23 points per game and 11.5 rebounds.
