American League

New York Yankees: In a lineup that features Alex Rodriguez, Jason Giambi and Gary Sheffield, Jorge Posada has emerged as the most dangerous threat. Posada became the first American League player to hit eight home runs this season, clubbing a solo blast in the third inning of the Yankees' 5-1 win over Oakland. Derek Jeter wasn't as fortunate. The all-star shortstop went 0-for-4, prolonging his hitless streak to a career-worst 0-for-32.

Seattle Mariners: The Mariners' hitting offensive woes continued on Wednesday night at Camden Yards. Seattle couldn't hit a lick, and they lost 3-1 after reliever Shigetoshi Hasegawa gave up two runs in the eight inning. With even a modest amount of production, the 7-14 Mariners could have double-figures wins. Instead, they are in last place in the American League West, five games out of first place.
