Denver Broncos: How valuable is a number? Well, in Denver if the number is seven it's worth quite a lot. RB Tatum Bell, a second-round draft pick last Saturday, wore the number at Oklahoma State and wants to wear it in Denver. Problem is that's John Elway's number. But Elway did say he would allow him to wear the numeral for a price. "Two thousand yards," Elway told the Denver Post. "Tell him if he gets 2,000 yards and scores 25 touchdowns, it's all his."
Atlanta Falcons: With the club's roster getting bloated, four players were released Tuesday. The two most notable names were QB Kurt Kittner and LB Keith Newman according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Jonathan Kilgo, a former Georgia punter signed a couple of months ago, and wide receiver John Lewis, who spent most of last season on the practice squad as an undrafted rookie, also were let go. Kittner's release leaves Michael Vick, Ty Detmer and third-round draft choice Matt Schaub as the quarterbacks. A fourth quarterback likely will be signed.
