Chicago White Sox: Shortstop Jose Valentin is headed for the disabled list with a hamstring problem. "I've been through those pains and I don't want to go through those pains again," Valentin told Bob Foltman of the Chicago Tribune. "I don't want to be afraid to go 100 percent and make it worse." Juan Uribe will get the nod at short while Valentin is on the DL. Frank Thomas is also having some hamstring problems but is in a day-to-day situation.

Detroit Tigers: The good news is that Tigers pitchers are striking out more men this year than last. They have improved their strikeouts per nine innings record from 4.78 to 6.75 which has also bettered their strikeouts to walk ratio in the process. The bad news lurking under their 8-6 record is that the team's ERA is actually worse than last year's, going from 5.30 to 5.52 with a similar rise in WHIP, 1.51 to 1.62.
