After liberal spending got the Jacksonville Jaguars in cap hell in the late 1990s, "fiscal responsibility" has been the motto around Alltell Stadium this offseason. And it's that stance that has put the team at odds with star safety Donovin Darius.

For the second consecutive season the Jags made him their franchise player, but for Darius that was one year too many. Darius was the only player on the roster to miss the team's voluntary offseason conditioning program last month. He failed to show in protest of the lack of progress on a multi-year contract. The six-year vet wants a long-term deal and the lucrative signing bonus that comes with it, but he and the team are far apart

Darius wants to be the highest-paid strong safety in the league and the Jaguars' best offer was six years for $18 million. So Jacksonville is listening to trade offers from other teams. Whoever is interested in trading for the former Syracuse star will have to decide if he's worth his high asking price.
