Rolling power outages are threatening the survival of some playoff teams after the first few games of the first round.

With low-scoring games, an apparent crackdown on obstruction penalties, tighter checking and frequently excellent goaltending, playoff success can be determined by how well teams can produce on the power play. Some teams desperately need to recharge now or face elimination.

Dallas is 1-for-12 (8.3 percent), Tampa Bay is 1-for-14 (7.1 percent), Detroit and Montreal are 1-for-15 (6.7 percent) and New Jersey (0-for-7), St. Louis (0-for-12) and Nashville (0-for-12) have not scored with the man advantage.
