Boston Red Sox: One of the most famous sports photos of all time features Cassius Clay standing over Sonny Liston after knocking him down in the first round of their May 25, 1965 Lewiston, Maine bout. What makes the picture so riveting is that Clay looks so ready for more -- which he should have been, considering he had barely thrown a punch to that point. (In fact, he was waving for Liston to get up, something the former champ refused to do, tainting the outcome of the fight in the minds of many.) Kevin Millar tried to evoke that image yesterday when asking about his collision with centerfielder Johnny Damon but was probably a little too stunned to get it right. Instead, he told Howard Brant of the Boston Herald that it reminded him of the Thrilla in Manila when he looked up to see Damon standing over him. Millar suffered a cut on the bridge of his nose but held onto the ball. If this were 1969, older folks would insist that Damon couldn't hear Millar calling for the ball hit by Melvin Mora because he had all that hair blocking his ears. That explanation doesn't wash because Damon had serious collision issues last year as well.

Cleveland Indians: Ben Broussard's sprained ankle is more serious than previously thought. Paul Hoynes of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that Broussard will be out seven to 10 days and could end up on the disabled list if the injury lingers. In his absence, Travis Hafner, Lou Merloni and Casey Blake will fill in at first.
