Chicago Bears: The team still has about $3 million in salary-cap room, but according to GM Jerry Angelo there won't be any more significant activity for the club on the free agent market. It had been speculated that the Bears would make a run at Buccaneers DT Warren Sapp, but Angelo's announcement puts an end to that dream. That doesn't mean they won't look to pick up anyone else, just not any big-ticket players. Angelo wants to re-evaluate the depth chart and what remains on the market. Up for discussion will be whether to make an offer to LT Ephraim Salaam, who has started 85 of the 90 games he played in the last six seasons with the Denver Broncos and Atlanta Falcons. "That's still a possibility," Angelo told the Chicago Tribune. "We're going to talk about a couple of guys, but there's no sense of urgency. Right now, we're not going to be driven by the player, we're going to be driven by the market."

Miami Dolphins: Apparently, criticism drives the Dolphins' front office crazy. The team has been the target of pointed comments in the media, so the organization has asked several local columnists to attend an off-the-record meeting Tuesday with coach Dave Wannstedt and GM Rick Spielman to find the root of the negative coverage. (Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that the team hasn't made the playoffs in two seasons and seems to be stagnating). Friday, Wannstedt summoned local broadcasters and former Dolphins Jim Mandich, Jimmy Cefalo and Kim Bokamper for a meeting at Grande Oaks Golf Club. According to Mandich, Wannstedt essentially asked, "Why is there such a negative perception of the state of the Dolphins? We've done a lot of winning around here. Why is it so negative?" FB Rob Konrad doesn't seem to mind the criticism too much. "It tells me people care," Konrad told the Miami Herald. "If people were calling talk shows saying, 'Who cares? Let's talk about UM and the Marlins,' I'd have something to worry about."

Oakland Raiders: The Raiders have a void in their backfield now that RB Charlie Garner is in Tampa Bay. They're looking to make a trade for Cincinnati's Corey Dillon, but they are also looking elsewhere. According to the Rocky Mountain News the Raiders will host FB Reuben Droughns on Tuesday. Droughns feels he is capable of being an every-down tailback but he has yet to get that chance in Denver, but Oakland may be more willing to give him that opportunity.
