Anaheim Angels: In four of the last five seasons, Garret Anderson has either led the Angels in games played or tied for the lead. In fact, since becoming a regular in 1996, he has never played under 150 games, missing just an average of five games per year in that time span. When a player like this is injured, it's news. Biceps tendinitis may well keep Anderson out of the Opening Day lineup writes Ben Bolch of the Los Angeles Times. Prior to the injury, the Angels had been planning to transplant Anderson from left to centerfield, a position he played every day in 2000.

New York Yankees: The early start to the Yankees 2004 seasons means that Bernie Williams will not be available for Opening Day. New York and Tampa Bay jump the gun on the season with an early trip to Japan. This means that Williams -- who had his appendix yoinked on February 26 -- will not be ready to go. It's a little disappointing," the centerfielder told Jim Baumbach of Newsday. "I would like to leave with the team but I think what's best for me is get my at-bats and get ready ... It might work out in my best interest to stay."
