Jacksonville Jaguars: CB Fernando Bryant will continue his career in Detroit after leaving as a free agent, but his absence could be filled in the near future. According to the Florida Times-Union the Jags are close to signing cornerback Lewis Sanders of the Cleveland Browns. Sanders, 25, was the Browns' fourth-round pick in the 2000 draft out of Maryland, but his career has been hindered by injuries. He missed the entire 2001 season with a calcium deposit on his hip and was bothered by a groin injury at the end of last season. Sanders' agent, Kevin Pompey, said Sanders is healthy and thinks he can come in and compete for the starting job.

New England Patriots: Former Buffalo Bills RB Sammy Morris will come in for a free agent visit today. The 6-foot, 220-pound Morris served as the Bills' third-down back in 2003 and is a three-year special teams captain. He also has experience as a fullback, meaning his potential role could be similar to what Larry Centers did with the team last season. "We're trying to find the right fit for him,'' agent Mark Slough told the Boston Herald. "Sammy is a player who does a number of things well - he's a capable back, he does a good job picking up the blitz, he can catch the ball well out of the backfield. He's not the fastest guy, but he's a powerful guy. At the same time, he's one of the better special teams players in the NFL." The Patriots need depth at tailback after releasing RB Antowain Smith.
