Miami needs more protection

The Dolphins must rebuild the offensive line if they are to have any success on offense.

The Miami Dolphins held a press conference Wednesday to officially announce A.J. Feeley as their newest player. It didn't take long for the questions about his impending quarterback battle with Jay Fiedler to start pouring in, but Feeley handled the onslaught well.

Coach Dave Wannstedt also tried to reduce to furor by declining to name anyone the starter at this point, saying such conversation should be shelved until the competition actually takes place.

"We don't have to make a decision right now on that," Wannstedt told the Miami Herald. "Tomorrow, we line up in a huddle, Jay's going to take charge and go. But we have a long time before we play a ballgame. We've got a lot of practices, a lot of quarterback schools and preseason games. It's pretty tough to make an evaluation sometimes about an offensive lineman. You have to be very educated. But the quarterback position is one of the easiest. It's pretty obvious if a guy is getting the job done or he's not."
