Tampa Bay Lightning: Tampa Bay failed to keep Vaclav Prospal after last season when he became a free agent. But sources told the Tampa Tribune that the Lightning have talked to the Mighty Ducks about reacquiring their leading scorer from 2002-03.

Washington Capitals: Michael Nylander will make his season debut Friday night for the Capitals after missing most of the season recovering from a broken leg. Just in time to possibly play himself off the team to a contender looking for depth at center before the March 9 trading deadline.

Boston Bruins: Boston remains in the hunt for Capitals defenseman Sergei Gonchar. The Bruins have the assets available to close the deal now, but despite the team's current need for a power-play quarterback the price might be too high.
