The Mets are clearly in need of some headline grabbing after what the Yankees have done this offseason and approached the Rangers about what it would take to get Alfonso Soriano back to New York, albeit in a different uniform. While they didn't offer Jose Reyes, his name has been attached to the discussion. Kevin Kernan of the New York Post suggests it would be crazy to trade him away.

When you think of all the people ever born on this planet and how few of them can throw a baseball as fast as Matt Anderson, well, it's kind of mind boggling. Some of that velocity is gone now, but he still thinks he can handle the closer role for the Tigers but it's going to be an uphill battle, writes Tom Gage of the Detroit News.
