Cincinnati Bengals: Since the hiring of coach Marvin Lewis the franchise has shown a newfound commitment to their scouting department. Long the smallest in the league, the Bengals began adding quality names last year and they appear intent on not letting their numbers shrink any further. John Garrett, a former Bengals assistant who worked as a scout for one year, left to coach wide receivers at the University of Virginia but according to the Cincinnati Enquirer the club hired Greg Seamon, a former assistant coach at UC and Miami, to take his place. Seamon, 48, worked as an associate to the Bengals coaching staff as an advance scout in 2003. Through a team spokesman, coach Marvin Lewis said he would address the advance scout vacancy at a later date, but it will eventually be filled.

Cleveland Browns: DE Courtney Brown had arthroscopic surgery two weeks ago to repair damage to the meniscus cartilage in his right knee. Browns fans will be pleased to know it's not the same knee on which he had microfracture surgery in December of 2002. Coach Butch Davis told the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Brown is making "tremendous progress".

Arizona Cardinals: Even though the club signed CB Duane Starks to a big contract last year, they're still looking for help in the secondary and that help may come in the form of CB Champ Bailey. Rod Graves, Cardinals VP for football operations, said he plans to talk with Redskins officials this week at the NFL combine in Indianapolis about how much it would cost to get Bailey. According to the Arizona Republic he hopes to "get a feel for what numbers they are talking about."
