Tampa Bay Devil Rays: Are the drugs an attempt to self-medicate owing to acute depression, or was the depression story a cover for the drugs? The true disposition of prospect Josh Hamilton's situation is fairly murky at this point, but this much is known: he has been suspended by Major League Baseball for a violation of the drug policy. The former overall number one draft pick is now 22 and has not played since the middle of the 2002 season. Carter Gaddis of the Tampa Tribune reports that he will be eligible to return to active duty on March 19.
