Baseball's latest headache

The "sinister cloud of steroids" is about to let loose a storm of big-name users on the public.

  • Which New York team had the better offseason. Lawrence Rocca of the Newark Star-Ledger believes it was the Mets -- not in terms of the talent they brought in, necessarily, but in regard to the personalities of the players new to the fold. Gary Sheffield, Kevin Brown, Kenny Lofton -- these are not the most public relations-friendly individuals ever to don cleats.

  • With indictments flying, a scandal is about to break. Jay Mariotti of the Chicago Sun-Times writes that the "sinister cloud of steroids" is about to let loose a storm of big-name users on the public.

  • Steroids a crisis? Just add it to the list. So suggests Jim Souhan of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune. Baseball has had numerous controversies just like this one and come out the other side each and every time.
