On the same day that the ill-conceived $6 million investment in Dominik Hasek officially became a flop, the Detroit Red Wings happened to announce a price hike of between 5 percent and 36 percent for playoff tickets.

Those Red Wings fans who booed Curtis Joseph and called for the team to dump him after last season's first-round playoff loss to Anaheim certainly ought to feel some regret now that they'll pay for the club's miscalculated lust for The Dominator over CuJo.

The most expensive playoff ticket in Detroit will reach a club-record $500 in the postseason, but that's if the Red Wings make it to the Stanley Cup finals. They are capable of going four rounds, but only if they fix the main cause of last season's sweep by the Ducks -- a lack of scoring.
