Detroit Tigers: Where can the Tigers turn to shore up their starting rotation? How about Anaheim? So suggests Gene Guidi of the Detroit Free Press. The Angels have an excess of starting pitchers, including Aaron Sele, Jerrod Washburn and Ramon Martinez. Would they be available for Brandon Inge or Carl Monroe?

Minnesota Twins: To paraphrase the hell out of Winston Churchill, "never has one given so little for so much in return." That's the story of Jose Offerman's four years with the Red Sox. For $26 million, Boston got about 46 Win Shares in return. It took him two seasons to match the 29 he posted with Kansas City in 1998 -- the season that caused the Red Sox to throw all that money at him in the first place. Jim Souhan of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports that the Twins don't care about all that and have signed the 35-year old to be their veteran pinch-hitting presence. Offerman was cut by the Mariners in spring training last year and did not appear in the majors in 2003. He is signed to a minor league contract that will pay him $500,000 should he make the big club.
