Carolina Hurricanes: There weren't any Carolina players in Sunday's All-Star Game, but there was plenty of talk all weekend about trades rumored to be involving Hurricanes players. "I don't know what the rumors are, but the interest level is pretty high," Hurricanes GM Jim Rutherford told the Raleigh News & Observer.
Edmonton Oilers: Edmonton needs an offensive-minded defenseman to run the power play and Washington's Sergei Gonchar is available. The Oilers typically aren't in the running for players such as Gonchar, the NHL's leading scorer among defensemen, but perhaps this year they should make an exception.
