Dallas defenseman regaining form

Sergei Zubov is coming off his best month of the season with two goals and eight assists in 16 games.

During the Dallas Stars' dreadful start to this season, perhaps no player was as lost as defenseman Sergei Zubov.

The slick, puck-moving defenseman no longer had frequent blue-line partners Derian Hatcher, who signed as a free agent with Detroit, and Darryl Sydor, who was traded to Columbus, by his side and Zubov was not adjusting very well.

"Maybe he was looking for that identity, and wondering how things would work out," Stars head coach Dave Tippett told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. "That takes time. He's a creative guy, and his patience with the puck sometimes can be an adjustment for his partner to read."
