Detroit Lions: Coach Steve Mariucci is now only a defensive backs coach away from completing his new staff. The Detroit Free Press reports Mariucci hired Larry Brooks Wednesday as the new defensive line coach, replacing George Dyer, who was fired after the season. Brooks is very familiar with Detroit's new defensive coordinator Dick Jauron. He was the defensive line coach last season with the Chicago Bears. Brooks played 11 seasons with the Los Angeles Rams as a defensive tackle and has also coached with the Rams, Green Bay, Seattle.
Green Bay Packers: QB Brett Favre broke his long and uncomfortable silence Wednesday, and toaled about his heave-ho interception in overtime that cost the Packers a shot at the Super Bowl. An unapologetic Favre said, "I haven't watched that play. I remember it as if it were yesterday. I wish I had it back. Do I wish I had a lot of passes back in my career? Yeah. But they had the perfect blitz for the play we had called. To say (it was) a miscommunication between Javon and I would be an understatement. He wasn't wrong. And in some ways I wasn't wrong." Favre also explained why he hadn't made himself available to the press until last night. "I know you guys feel like I just ran out on you with the press conference ...I felt like at that time I didn't have a lot of good things to say. I didn't have a lot to say period."
