Arizona Cardinals: RB Damien Anderson was released from a hospital late last week, three weeks after he was injured in a serious single-car accident. Anderson's agent, Mike McCartney, said Anderson is resting comfortably and hopes to be ready to join the team for the off-season workouts which start in March. "We're expecting him to make a full recovery," McCartney told the Arizona Republic. The backup tailback spent 12 days sedated in the intensive care and underwent surgery to remove his spleen. He also suffered liver damage and significant facial injuries.

Philadelphia Eagles: With their season now over, two Eagles players had surgery to get ready for next season. FB Jon Ritchie's had surgery late last week to fix torn cartilage in his right shoulder and G Jermane Mayberry underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee Tuesday. Both operations were performed by team physician Peter DeLuca. The Philadelphia Inquirer reports Ritchie is expected to be ready for training camp as will Mayberry. However, the offensive lineman is also is rehabilitating from extensive elbow surgery that forced him to miss the final nine games of the season.

Green Bay Packers: Former Lions defensive coordinator Kurt Schottenheimer is being courted by coach Mike Sherman, but apparently not to fill the vacancy left by the firing of Ed Donatell. According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Schottenheimer will be named assistant coach and probably would fill a position created by the promotion of assistant head coach / defensive backs coach Bob Slowik to defensive coordinator. Schottenheimer is still part of the Lions staff but head coach Steve Mariucci has given him permission to start seeking employment elsewhere.
