New York may add disgruntled forward

The Rangers seem curiously drawn to Jaromir Jagr the same way tabloids are drawn to Paris Hilton.

As surely as you could count on the Rangers struggling to stay in the Eastern Conference playoff race, rumors about New York acquiring Jaromir Jagr from the Washington Capitals have resurfaced right on schedule this week.

Oddly enough, the Jagr talk has resumed, according to The New York Times and the New York Daily News, while Rangers president, general manager and head coach Glen Sather is openly seeking a defenseman because of injuries to key blue-liners Greg de Vries and Darius Kasparaitis. New York has let in 2.70 goals per game, sixth-worst in the NHL.

Although the Rangers (18-18-7-4 and 10th in the East), who have allowed 14 goals in their four-game winless streak (0-2-2), need help keeping the puck out of their net, they seem curiously drawn to Jagr the way tabloids follow the exploits of Paris Hilton.
